How good is MB Quart?

MB Quart subs...crap or decent?

  • I have an MB Quart RWE-254 10" sub (which is the reference series), and am debating whether I should install it or get something different. A number of casual users I've talked to have had nothing but positive to say. One professional installed swears by this particular sub in a slot port (although I intend to go sealed). However, one guy's personal web site that I dug up gave this thing a total crap review, saying the cheapest infinity would perform better. Granted, this guy is just one person, but he seemed to know his stuff...although I don't know by what criteria he was measuring the sub. Nevertheless, another installer told me, for my purposes I should, and I quote, "just get a cheap 10", a cheap amp to run it, and install, period." The MB Quart certainly wasn't cheap, and neither is the DLS amp I have to run it. Bottom line: I'm my no means an audio junkie, but I am picky (ie: picky to the point where the Bose in my new audi doesnt cut it). Will this MB Quart satisfy?

  • Answer:

I think you will be happy... they sound pretty good to be totally honest with you. You obviously aren't going to enter in any SPL competition or anything like that so its good for your needs. Most people are very brand orientated, meaning they will bash it just because its not their brand. Personally I wouldn't buy them because they don't fit my needs but I am not going to bash them for it... I rather like the sound they have and was considering using 1 for my HT. I would do it... you will be happy.... BTW I am glad to hear that the bose wasen't good enough.... the only thing IMO bose is great at is marketing. Good Luck

I dont know about subs but the inside speakers are very highly rated so i would say at LEAST for your intended purpose of filling in the sound gap and having it sound good, not tryin to pound the block yes it will satisfy, now if your going for all out loud my opinion is unsure

Do it. You'll be impressed. Those people were obviously trying to sell you something else. The person who told you to get cheap stuff evidently hasn't heard MB Quart or DLS. Good Luck!

A 10 inch sub can only push so much air, so it wouldnt make really low notes with big booming sound. Although it may have good low volume sound quality....something alot of heavy hitters dont have. If you want to get serious bass then go with a DVC high excursion 12" or better sub.

personally i think you'll really like it. i highly recomend listening to it if you have not before you buy it. but i like MB Quart subs. not the best i've heard, but definatly not the worst either. i'd give them about a "B" on the grading scale. Quart makes better comps then subs, but i'd buy there subs. heres a link that might save you some money. http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=page.display&page_id=14&mfg_account_ID=9&category_id=23 good luck

install the speaker you will be happy with it they sound good in ported or seal box but the box needs to be made for the woofer don't use any box
