Why is the Sat Nav not working?

Does Garmin Nuvi 200 sat nav need a memory card?

  • My sat nav has stopped working and i have noticed that there is no memory card in the slot, i'm not sure if there was one there before. As soon as i turn it on it switches itself off straight away. Need help. Cheers

i have the same one its probley the charger, hasnt worked for a bit same happened to me just go to halfords ask them to test it with a different charger

I have that same one and mine does not have a memory card it only has a slot so you can upload new maps. I think you have an issue. Take it back to the store and see what they tell you.

Our Nuvi 200 comes with built in memory for the maps, no card in the slot from Garmin.. the card slot is for a camera memory so you can look a pictures, or to add additional maps.. If it is not working you have a problem with the unit. I hope it is still under warranty.

NO, the 200 doesn't need a memory card as the maps are preloaded on the system itself. As stated before, the slot is for different maps, such as europe, etc.. Seems like you have a problem with the unit itself, either the power cable or the actual battery that is built in has gone bad.
