What door speakers should I get?

Im looking to get all door speakers first before i get a subwoofer, do i need an amp yet?

  • i just got two pioneer 6x9 deck speakers and they arent sounding as good as my factory speakers sounded, yes they are more clear, but my factory speakers hit bass tones like a cheap 8 inch sub. i know they will get better with time but will they hit those deep notes again? and i am planning on replacing the four door speakers and the two tiny speakers with aftermarket speakers, after that being done, should i THEN get an amp? or still wait for the sub? and also i want to know where to get those little tiny speakers that are on the front of my doors by the mirrors. i have a 99 pontiac grand prix if that helps.

  • Answer:

Putting your regular (meaning not the sub) speakers on an Amp will greatly increase their sound. The more watts (to a point) you push to a speaker, the louder and bassier you can get them to sound. If possible, run one Amp for your front and rear speakers, and one Amp for your Sub. You should run a capacitor if you do this to store power, or you'll wear down your battery very quickly. Those small speakers are called "tweeters" and you can get them at any Audio shop, or website such as Crutchfields.com

i wouldn't ever buy pioneer speakers, i would leave the orginal (if there still good) in the car or actually pay for some nice decent 5x6 or 6x9 or whatever size you want. i wouldn't spend money on tweeters. make sure when hooking everything up you go through and make sure the ohms are able to handle what your putting out. I would get a small amp for your door and back speakers. If you have a lets say 600 watt Sub get a 450 watt amp. but dont ever bridge it. Orion sells a beasty 18" sub which will blow ur windows out.
