What aftermarket speakers should I buy(on a budget) for my Dodge Charger?

  • I purchased aftermarket speakers for my Charger and didn't realize how crappy they were until I heard my girlfriends speakers in her Charger. She has Boston Acoustics audio that come with hers. Now I'm determined to duplicate or come close to that sound w/o paying Boston Acoustics money. Any ideas on what speakers to buy? I need specifics because I will be purchasing the speakers online. Should I also replace the amp?

    Boss Audio Systems CH6530 Chaos Series 6.5-Inch 3-Way Speaker sound great. I hooked them up directly to my head (a Sony aftermarket radio) and for a first timer I installed them myself in my little Honda hatchback in a couple of hours with a dremel (the first one took an hour an a half, after that I knew what I was doing so it was a breeze). They look really nice and can handle highs and mids real well, the bass gets a little iffy on higher volumes but hey, that's what subs are for. Less than ten bucks per speaker. You can't complain. I'm definitely sticking with Boss when I buy my amp and sub.

The short answer is you get what you pay for. The long answer is unfortunately good audio costs money. If the $50 pair speakers sounded as good as $150 pair speakers then they wouldnt sell. If you are short on cash, the best thing you can do is replace your front two speakers with components. Infinity Reference you can get for a good price on sonic electronix. Replace that amp with something better. The thing people fail to realize is that almost all car manufacturers throw the stereo system in as an afterthought. They skimp on quality, and use pretty much the cheapest they can find to get by. Thats one of the reasons aftermarket stuff sounds so much better.
