Can u use a home theatre system in a car (subwoofers & speakers i.e )?
-
It works out a lot cheaper compared to car subwoofer & amp.almost half the price

Answer:
You could but it's not a very good investment in the long run and you will most likely be disappointed in the quality of sound. First off, all but the cheapest car audio speakers are designed with the mobile environment in mind. That is,they are built with materials that are able to withstand the abuse and harsh weather conditions that are not a concern for a home speaker manufacturer. Secondly, most home speakers are 8 ohms where as most car audio speakers are 4. This means the efficiency is cut in half. While there are ways to overcome this by doubling the amount of speakers, you will end up losing the savings you made by doing so. Lastly, most home speakers are not restrained by size restrictions of their enclosures. Unless you are using speakers that came out of a bookshelf speaker system, or a sub-woofer from a very small box, you will most likely be displeased with the sound unless you put them in an enclosure around the same size they were designed for. You would not be able to use a home amplifier without purchasing a very large inverter that would out weigh any cost benefits. The only time it would make sense to go this route would be in an RV or bus that was already equipped with a 110 volt system and space was not an issue. Hope this helps.

Yes you can use home speakers in a car you can connect them directly to the head unit or to an amp but if you want to use the subwoofer you are going to need a car Amp to connect it to.

you can do this but i wouldnt reccommend it, home and auto speaker are ussually set up differently as far as ohms, watts etc.

Yes, sure.

Sure, HOWEVER, the output power will be less than whats rated on the source due to the higher ohms of the speakers.
