Will door speakers get wet in a car wash?

  • I just installed new speakers in my door, will my midbass get wet? how do i prevent it from getting wet if it will get wet?

The weather stripping on your doors should prevent most if not all water from entering your cabin through any opening, including the doors. However, the stripping becomes brittle with time and some water may find it's way in. I would not be worried at all of speaker damage from water. There is no more chance of your speakers getting wet from a car wash then there is from a rainy day. However, being an MECP Installer, I would still recommend a foam baffle to put behind the speaker to protect it from anything. An added bonus of the baffle is that it helps block a lot of the road noise that comes from the door, so it is not transfured through the cone on the woofer. More protection for your speakers and better sound quality all at once.

Sometimes moisture will enter the inside of the door. Not from a car wash though. Your speaker and electrical are perfectly fine.

As a precaution! Just put duct tape across the outside seal, before entering the car wash! Good Luck
