What is a good amp?

Is this a good amp or what reccomendations can you give for an amp?

  • Hey everyone, I'm currently looking for what would be good for adequate power and to make a good bang for my subwoofers. My subwoofers are (http://www.jlaudio.com/cs212-wx-car-audio-basswedge-subwoofer-systems-93263) , and I'm currently looking at this amp - (http://www.amazon.com/Kenwood-Kac-7205-1000-Watt-Bridgeable-Amplifier/dp/B0038FNC8G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1322312583&sr=8-1) ... would this be a good decision considering the wattage output? The only issue here is I don't know about the ohms and such, I need some enlightening on how ohms work since it says 4 ohms on the page along with 2 ohms which is confusing me and I currently do not know what the ohms are at on this enclosure and not sure what route I need to take for an amp. I appreciate any feedback I can get, thanks.

  • Answer:

your subs have a final 2 ohm impedance and require 400 watt rms to operate at full power. you dont wanna bridge the amp for these sub because in bridged mode the amp needs to see a 4 ohm load. the subs need at least 150 watt of rms power and each channel give 250 watt at 2 ohms, you can power your subs with this amp, but for these subs there are better amp who let the subs operate at full power. you need an amp that outputs 400 watt rms @ 2 ohms amp you may wanna consider are: kicker zx400.1 clarion xr2110 rockford fosgate p400-1
