If i have to install a manual switch to turn my amplifier on/off in my car, what wire do i have to run through?
-
I currently have a remote wire, but its not working because the amplifier stays on while the car is turned off and it drains my battery, so i already bought a little chrome switch and just need to run a wire through it, please help!

Answer:
It is apparent that your remote turn on switch inside the radio is not working. It's turning the amp on, but not off. You CAN put a switch on the remote wire. You'll have to make sure you turn it off before turning the car off or it could "pop" and damage the am or speakers. By "pop" i mean send a signal thru the amp that will surge your speakers and could damage them. Another route is to have it repaired. Too much money if you ask me. you could also use a remote turn on adapter. It's basically a relay that turns on and off sensing voltage from speakers. You \'ll have to connect it as per the instructions. It connects power 12volts, ground, and a positive speaker lead. It sense a voltage change thru the speaker, which activates the relay and uses the 12volts to turn on an amp. Email if you have any other questions

me and my friend had the same problem in his car and we solved it by just buying a simple switch from circuit city for like 5 bucks and splitting the blue remote wire and running it through the switch. it worked just fine for us.

i had the same problem ok just get any wire like a phone wire is more preferable because it has 2 wires inside ok so you get the toggle switch and connect one wire to the positive and one to the ground of the switch ok so run the wire through any hole you can find that goes to your battery after that just connect the positive to the positive part of the battery and the ground to any gorund screw then go back to your toggle switch and connect the remote wire to the other terminal that is not bieng use it may have a little picture on the side like lights or something and there you go just remember to hide the cables and your getting help from a 14 year old ahhaha
