What kind of an amplifier do i need for?

What kind of wiring kit do i need for the rockford fosgate prime r600-5 channel amplifier?

  • I brought this rockford fosgate prime r600-5 channel amp, an infinity reference 1262w sub and infinity kappa 682.9cf speakers. what kind of wiring kit do i need and someone told me i even need an additional interconnect rca...do i really need an interconnect rca?? and what kind of wiring kit is the best? p.s this is a 5 channel amp.

  • Answer:

The manufacturer recommended wiring kit is for 4 gauge power and ground. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_13218_The-InstallBay-AK4.html Many amp wiring kits, like the one linked, will include only a single set of RCA cables. For the amp to have inputs for front, rear, and subwoofer, you need 2 more pairs of RCA cables. If your head unit has only front and rear outputs, you'll also need to "split" one set (most often rear) for channel 5 (subwoofer channel).

aways go bigger than called for, and buy a distribution block to put next to the amp and downsize the wire from there, this will give you a second place to pick up power and if you upgrade your amplifier or run 2 of them.you will not have to change any wiring going to the battery.and i would buy a cur.breaker instead of the fuse that comes with the kit. a breaker is easier to work with.so if it calls for an 8 gauge wire you go with a 4 gauge.as the gauge number gos down the wire gets thicker. go to rockford fosgate.com.they have this page set up like index cards and give you some great information on there equipment, check it out.
