How big of an Amp do i need?

  • Ok, i know nothing about vehicles but I got my parents car and i'm getting a system in it and its all stock. I have a MTX Audio 10" Subwoofer. and i'm getting another exactly like it now it has 50-225 RMS Duel 4 or 12 OHM. I dont know what size Amp i would need for both of them or to buy 2 different Amps for each of my subwoofers. Im not looking to spend a load maybe a few hundred on the amp or amps. Also need a nice Deck if anybody knows where i can get a cheap good 1.

    You need one Amp , a Mono block rated at 450watts @ 1 Ohms or @ 4 Ohms will power does nice wire both to single amp Good job getting same brand of sub! Try your local audio shop, or walmart for a cheap head unit

Wal-mart has nothing good if you are looking for a "better" system. Do not buy Dual anything, Sony isn't very good with car audio at all, Jensen has decent decks everything else isnt up to par. I would say look for a Pioneer, *Kenwood*, Eclipse, or Alpine. Kenwood is my favorite.

ya the guy above me is right, but walmart? yeah they are cheaper but made in china , go to a audio show and try to work a deal, walmart just ruins small business with their chinese crap, they dont bother with quality they just want more money, and they make sooo many of them that they can afford to sell stuff cheaper(im sure many of those come out defective too, just my two cents thanks

Check onlinecarstereo.com, sonicelectronix.com, and amazon.com, those all have cheap things. Plus is new. All you needed is an amp that can hold 500 RMS, I would suggest you to get duel 2 ohm subwoofer, because is very hard to find an amp that is stabled at one Ohm for 500 RMS. Just parallel wiring the 2 2 Ohm subs make it to 2 Ohm, and there is a lot of the amp is 2 Ohm stable at 500 RMS. also the lower the Ohm the better the sound. Wolmart has some good wires, and cheap.
