What kind of amp should i get?

What kind of car amp should I get?

  • I'm trying to get some more bass in my new Mini Cooper. I have a brand new 3000 watt M.A. Audio HK12x2 subwoofer laying around, so I figured I could just put that in with some kind of amp. However, I'm really not looking to come anywhere near the 3000 w range, just something to deliver deeper bass to my music. I have very little knowledge of subs and amps but I am assuming the sub I have is overkill. Is it possible to hook this sub up to an amp of less power to get what I'm looking for? And if so will that mean the size of the box is of less importance? I would rather use the sub I already have than go out and buy another one. Thanks

  • Answer:

A sub in a sealed box takes more power to operate. When going vented it takes less power. With that sub i would go vented and get somebody to tune it low.You will get deep low frequencies if you do.I would run a 1500d that's 1 ohm stable. If you do get a smaller amp as long as you don't play your music loud until distortion you'll be fine.

Yes.....you're in the right section...."Car Audio." When mediocre minds can't get the attention they crave.......they revert to the lowest common denominator......making noise.
