How to wire 2 dvc subs to mono amp?

How do i wire 2 dvc subs to a 4 channel amp?

  • i have a kicker zx650.4 amp and two 2 ohm DVC memphis m3 12" subs. how do i wire the amp and subs together? please tell me if i have bought the wrong equipment or if it isss at all possible to make it work.

  • Answer:

That amp will run real hot at a 2 ohm bridge, so what you need to do is wire those voice coils in "series" then bridge the 2 channels to each sub. how you "series" the voice coils on each sub is take a short peice of speaker wire and connect a positive lead to a negative lead together and use the remainder positive and negative lead to connect to the amp. that will give you a 4 ohm load on the each bridged section of the amp wich will allow that amp to function properly and to run cooler and not go into "protect" mode. Good Luck, hope this was helpfull. If its to loud your to old.

4 ch amp not the best choice for what you need it for....but if you already have yeah......just bridge the subs to the amp in series circut. wire from the neg in the 1st ch of the amp to the neg in the first sub. then a wire from the pos. of the first sub to the neg. of the second sub. then a wire from the pos of the 2nd sub to the pos. of the second ch.

There are 2 channels on top, and 2 channels on bottom on the amp. Bridge each subwoofer to 2 channels, one on top, one on bottom, and you will get more wattage. It's still going to be run at 2 ohms though, and you shouldn't have a 4 channel amplifier for subwoofers, you should have a monoblock class D amp. Then wire these two together at 1 ohm to a stable amplifier, and you're set with some good power.

paul is right but be sure when you connect the sub in series you connect the positive of one coil to the negative of the other coil. connect the amp to the other positive and negative posts

You bought the wrong equipment. You need a mono amp to run subs. More info here http://spkrbox1.spaces.live.com

you need a mono block (for best results) or a two channel amp
