Sub Woofer Box Design?

The box the sub woofer goes into.?

  • what are the boxes called that hold the sub woofer? My car came with a sub woofer but its just kind laying there with nothing supporting it. I know that people have them in box type of things but im not sure what there called.

there are sub enclosures...mainly two types...you have closed (no air holes) and this is for tighter sounding bass...the you have open (these have the holes made in them) These are for deeper sounding bass....I pre-fer the closed ones with a good pair of subs and amp and let all hell loose....they should sound nicely...I did use a cheaper pair once when I was broke called ''wolfenhag'' german concept speakers or something like that...they come in red. Sounded as nice as my high end pioneers. Its your choice though. The box is the most important so buy a good one and then you wont have to buy another. oh and make sure its not ply-wood made...over time the pieces will start to fall apart due to the vibrations.

It is a subwoofer enclosure. Most subs need these to achieve their optimal performance. Without it most subs will give little output and poor sound. What type of subwoofer enclosure you need depends on what specific sub you have. Good Luck!!!
