How would I wire subs to AMP?

How do i wire my 4 ohm dual voice subs to get the 2 ohm load from the amp?

  • I want to hook up 2 1000 watt volfenhag subs to this 1200 watt boss 2 channel amp I bought and I need to know how to wire these subs to it get max power from the amp??? The amp is 2 ohm stable and bridgable please help

  • Answer:

You can't get a 2 ohm load from two 4 ohm DVC. 1 ohm, 4 ohm or 16 ohms are the only choices when using the subs to bridge the amp.

Hook them up parallel.

- amp to - speaker one and speaker two. + amp to +speaker one and speaker two (ie: parallel). 'Bridgable' amps usually mean combining left and right channels together usually.

So when you say that you are looking to get the maximum power, I am assuming that you want to get maximum amount of dB. To get the loudest sound, do not bridge the amp. Just wire each sub to one of the channels on the amp individually. (each sub will have its own connection to the amp) You would be driving 4 ohm speakers on 2 ohm outputs at 600 watts per side. If you bridge the amp according to the manufacturer's instructions which would give you a 1200 watt output and then you wired both subs in a parallel configuration (+ to + and - to - to bothe speakers) you would essentially be driving a 2 ohm/2000 watt speaker. Which would technically utilize more power from the amp, however it would not give you the same sound level in decibles (dB) that you would get with the first scenario.
