How do I bridge two different amps together?

Can I use two 2-channel amps with two dual voice coil speakers?

  • The speakers are 4-ohms per coil (2 ohms) and I have two amps to power them. I would bridge each amp into them and use one amp per speaker but they are only stable at 2 ohms unbridged. So could I hook one left to one voice coil and the other amp's left up to the other voice coil of the same speaker and do the sam to the right?

  • Answer:

NEVER connect two channels to one sub. The slightest difference in power can cause the coils to warp. Add up the RMS power handling of all subs and get an amp that matches with a load of 4 ohm and wire the subs like this - http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j230/sparky3489/PARALLEL-SERIES.jpg This will be a 4 ohm load. k first you have 2 subs that are dual voice coil. the ohm load really does not matter at this point u need to find out how much rms ur subs can handle. then once u find that out u should get just one amp for both subs. find out how much your rms is then check if the amp can power those by looking at the fuses. there is no need for two amps
