How many watts do I need between each subwoofer?

How many watts do i need for a 450w subwoofer?

  • looking for an amp size 450w IMPP subwoofer just 1 150W nomial power

  • Answer:

ALWAYS match RMS watts between sub(s) and amp (per channel) as well as impedance (ohms). Since you only have one sub, get a mono channel amp that matches the nominal watts of your sub. That would be a 150 watt RMS X 1 @ 4 ohms assuming the sub is also 4 ohm. _______________________ "your amp should be half of your sub to get peak performance out your sub so you looking at 200 watts" is incorrect. If I put 60 volts to a 120 volt light, does it run at peak performance?

The answer depends somewhat on the manufacturer involved and how they rate power, but in general speakers are rated peak to peak, (so they sound more impressive) while amps are usually rated in RMS watts. So 450 watts/2 = 225x.75 =168 watts or so. Go down to be safe and a 150w amp (single channel), which by the way is your nominal power should be right on.

around 2 or 3. A turkey sandwich would also help.
