How much to install a subwoofer in a car?
-
My car used to have a pretty nice sound system but someone broke in and ripped out the subwoofer I want to get a new one but dont know how much it will cost they took the whole wooden box that the subwoofer was in but the amplifier and the cables are still there. So basically I just need to know how much i should expect to pay for a new subwoofer and the approximation of the cost of labor. I have no idea how much it should cost and i dont want to get ripped off I have seen highly praised 12 inch subwoofers for around 50 dollars online but dont know if this is an accurate approximation as to how much a shop might charge me

Answer:
well go by the subs rms wattage. the more rms wattage the more power it can handle. i would go with jl, mtx, or kicker. and the cost depends on what sub and enclosure you get, but if your just installing another sub then you can do that yourself. hope this helps

A really nice and decent cheap car audio subwoofer should cost around $50-$70. Like some of these: 12" Pyle Dryver Series Subwoofer http://www.cheapforme.com/product_info.php/products_id/5598574 12" Power Acoustik Power 2 Series Subwoofer http://www.cheapforme.com/product_info.php/products_id/5598009 12" DB Bass Inferno Subwoofer http://www.cheapforme.com/product_info.php/products_id/5284266 Check this video out on YouTube for the Pyle car audio subwoofers just for a reference of their performance (they're cheaper but still really good quality) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xh2z70XACtM&feature=related The Pyle Dryver subwoofer I suggested above is a higher-end model than the ones in the video, and the ones in the video are 15". The 12" Pyle Dryver subwoofer can probably handle at least 800 watts RMS with no problem and 2 of them would create enough bass for a school bus. When it comes to the cost of installing them, you said the last ones were stolen and it would take too much time to run through the entire car to actually take out the amplifier wiring kit, so I would assume it was a "grab and go" and the person left the wiring behind. Simply put the subwoofers in a box and connect it to the amplifier...

if you want the best then get JL but they are expensive ($300 - UP). but there are a lot of decent subs out in market. you can get a good set of subs for less than $300. i personally have 1 12in kenwood excelon sub. and it hits pretty hard like i have two 12in in my car. i used to have 2 10in kenwood subs but they got stolen too so i upgraded to excelons. but thats just me. mtx are pretty good too. i actually have tried kickers before i bought my excelon and i didnt like them. As for installation, it is fairly easy to install but even easier now because you still have your old wires connected in your car.
