How should I replace the speakers in my car?

How do i replace my car speakers?

• I have an 07 Pontiac G5. I think the left front speaker is busted. How do i go about replacing it? Or even both in front. How do i know what kind to get?

  Take off door panels and unscrew the speaker. Find out how big it is. Common size car speakers are 6.5, 5.25, 6x9 etc. Find out the mounting depth of the car door. Make sure that whatever speaker you purchase wont be too deep and hit the window track or the actual window itself (when rolled down). If you have a local mobile electronics shop go there with your speaker and have them tell you what size it is and what would be a good replacement. If there is no mobile electronics place then go to Best Buy or Circuit City and ask them. Just remember that you might know more about car stereos than their installers. I have some funny stories about those guys not knowing anything. Anyways, you need to realize that any speaker with a power handling over 30 watts really needs to be amplified by an external amplifier. ALWAYS LOOK AT RMS POWER RATINGS, NOT PEAK of MAX POWER. Good low priced brands are Alpine Type S series, Pioneer, Kenwood, DB Drive, etc. Go to some websites to get an idea of brands, pricing, power handling and more.
