Bought a new head unit?

Bought a car cd player jvc head unit. help please?

  • do i need to buy new (larger) speakers, or will it be ok to connect it to the present speakers (in the doors) or do i need some more speakers? got a ford ka 1300. it it expensive to get this fitted? thank you. it is 2 x 50 watts.

  • Answer:

no you will be fine, my Mrs had a ka and i fitted a jvc head unit in it and it worked fine, in the end i did change the door speakers to a higher power but you have to by an upgrade speaker surround so the speakers will fit its to much hassle mate stick with the speakers you have.

Your factory speakers should be fine.

The JVC head unit actually puts out about 18 - 22 watts. The "50 watts" is "Peak" which in reality doesn't mean anything. You should pay attention to the "RMS" not PEAK watts. If you ever buy new speakers or amps try matching up the RMS watts to each other. To answer your question, it should be okay depending on how loud you play your music. If you play it pretty loud you may blow the stock speakers over time. But you can always replace those too. Good luck.
