Good Car Speaker Brands?

  • Ive decided to improve my car's sound system. I already have a Kenwood stereo system and am next thinking of adding new speakers since mine are still stock. What are good yet affordable speaker brands with good overall sound. A subwoofer may be next but not for a while. Also, what are the benefits of adding an amplifier and is it really needed?

    An amp is not needed, but I highly recommend one to gain the full benefits of having a decent front stage. Check out some 2-way component sets. They'll come with a woofer, a tweeter and a passive crossover (or active crossover, depends on which one you purchase) for each door. A nice little 200w 2-channel amp to power them and you'll get an erection over the improvement in sound quality. A few brands I like are JBL, Focal, Rainbow, Hertz, Dynaudio, Image Dynamics, CDT, Morel.
