Car stereo wont turn on.

Why wont my car stereo turn on?

• i went to go make sure my stereo worked still and i hook it up to the battery it made a spark and now it wont turn on its a dual xdvd8181 the fuse on it didnt pop and no other wires touched i made sure of that by taping up all the other wire ends so i know nothing touched it just made a quick spark then turned and the lights turned red then shut off real fast

  Which wires did you use? How much amp is the fuse? Usually the fuse blows up to prevent damage to the stereo? If the fuse was replaced with higher Amp rating, it will not do its job. Normally it does not spark when you connect the wires directly to the battery, unless the stereo was already turned ON. The spark tells me there is something shorted in the radio.
