Where can i find powered amp?

How can I power my amp without getting a HO alternator?

  • Not only can I not find a HO alternator that fits my engine, but other alternators I've found with 250 amperage are about $500. The guy I bought my ax2000 us amps amp from had what I think was another stock battery that powered a dry cell, which powered the amp. I have a really heavy duty Interstate Batteries battery, but it's the alternator I'm worried about (the amp is 200 amps, the alternator I have currently is 85 amperage). Any suggestions??

    first, caps are near useless for car audio. do not waste your money. if you do the big 3. ( google it ) then get the biggest car audio battery you can find like a kinetik hc2400. you are still going to be pushing it to run that amp. you are going to have some dimming issues. forget about having 14 volts, but you need to stay above 12 volts. be careful about have your alternator rewound for more power. while it would make more power, it would also need more rpm's to do it. where your stock alt makes 14v at idle the rewind may not make 14v til 2000 rpm and not charge at all at idle. good luck

One thing you can try is having your alternator modified to output a higher amperage. You can hook it up, and have a gain as low as you can without dimming... this amp, is the 200-amperes the Fuse rating? No, A cap will do nothing, it's a unless device that your alternator will have to power also. It will not help with dimming lights.

That 85amp alternator isn't going to last long trying to keep up with that amp and everything else. Did you try this place for a HO alt? http://www.dbelectrical.com/Alternators/High%20Output/ pretty reputable place and very reasonable prices...

A capacitor would help. Stores an releases power, to help prevent electrical problems with high output amps an speakers.

look for a 20-30 farradd capacitor it should solve your problems cause i take it your running like 8000 watts or there abouts you should be safe most places say every 500 watts=1 farrad if you want the cap to do its job get a good size one the bigger you go dosnt hurt anything it just helps caps will not solve the whole issue due to the fact a cap quickly stores and quickly release energy so your longer notes will drain the cap in a mater of seconds
