How should I connect my line-level amp?

The RF T1500-1BDCP has 4 terminals (2+ and 2 -). What is the different option to connect to this sub amp?

  • I am running a 4 ohm dvc now, each coil to its own +- terminal on the amp. That as i understand gives 2 ohm load for the amp. What happens if i connect the 4 ohm sub in parallel, and then connect instead to just 1+1- of the terminals, and leave out 1+1-, is this also correct to do, then what ohm load do i get then. So basicly, when amp sees i use both terminals +- | +- it sees 2 ohm load (amp is parallel inside so its paralleled that way) So when i use only 1+1- and leave out the other terminal (+-) then the amp isnt parallel anymore? I dont like to be this not understanding, please bare with me :D Just a fun question, if i wanted to hook this amp up for 8 ohm load with my 4 ohm sub, what do i do then regarding terminal 1 or 2. And then how many watts go through to my subwoofer?

  • Answer:

the results are the same. Scenario 1 makes the parallel connection at the amp. Scenario 2 makes the parallel connection at the coils. Electrically, it's the exact same thing. The amp sees 2 ohms and the sub sees 1500w+ If you wire it in series - just use one set of outputs at the amp. http://images.the12volt.com/12voltimages/1_4ohm_dvc_8ohm.gif You'd reduce the amp's 4 ohm power by about 50% so you could expect around 500w rms, probably more knowing RF's power amps tend to be significantly under-rated.

you are confusing yourself. the terminals on the amplifier are connected together internally. treat the amplifier like it only has one + and one - terminal. http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp

go to rockford fosgate.com and click on the wiring wirzard they give you the ways there subs are wired.

Charlie

ya go rockford i believe that it just has two outputs to make hooking up more subs easier
