ok the amp dose play a big role cuz the amp gives that extra watts to the speakers and subs that it needs to be louder for example the stereo can give out 50 watts to each speaker but if the speakers can handle 200 watts then it isn't getting enough from the strereo so if you put it to a amp it will get the amount and so be louder but you have to get amps that are close to being compatible to your speakers or subs if you have a 1,000 watts amp and have 2 300 watts subs you run the risk of blowing the subs out cuz the amp is to powerful for the subs so you need an amp that is at least 800 watts just to be safe for 250 you might be able to get a part of a audio system but to get a pretty decent one you will probably need like 350 the least unless you can get hooked up. you can get them from any audio shop or if your in a real tight budget you might be able to get it from walmart but not installed if you shop around at audio shops they some times have weekly specials

You're engine doesent make enough torque for you to be haulin' heavy subs around. You need a big motor if you're gonna put a bunch of crap in you're car. I just hate when someones wheels are soo big a granny can outrun em in her buick!
