What kind of amp do i need to power a12 inch jl audio sub?

    well i would reccomend getting a mono subamp, its designed just ot power an amp and no speakers or anything. now for this sub it says rms 500, that means that you need to find an amp that will constatly put out UNDER 500 watts, and the peak means that the sub can only put out x amount of watts. Now you also have to watch for the ratings on the subs for the amount of power at a ceritan OHM. that sub is 2 ohms so you will need to find am amp that has NO more than 500 watts RMS for 2 ohms and no more that 1000 at peak for 2 ohms...i would reccomend this amp http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_11796_Kenwood+KAC-8104D.html i have it in my car powering one 10 inch sony xplod, it sounds incredable and the omp barley ever gets hot at all...very good amp highly recommended
