My car amplifier not working in my car.

Car amplifier not working well?

  • i wanted to hook up an amplifier in my car but something is wrong , when the car's engine is off , it sounds perfect , but when i start engine , the speakers start to "whistle" and it is a bit funny as i pres the gas it goes with the sound , when i turn on cornering lights , the speakers put the same sound too , lol , i think its about the alternator , however my father has changed something on alternator ( 12v diode ) or something else i dont know excatly but could someone tell me what to do ? don't say to change alternator , it costs 100+ EUR so i cant afford it on this typical car , i have a w124 1991 . thanks

  • Answer:

It's not your alternator, it's your rca cables, and possibly your ground wire. Your car and alternator (when it spins) puts out an EMF, or electro magnetic field. Your Rca cables are picking it up.. I would guess, that your rca cables are either close to your power wire, or the main wiring harness of the vehicle.. If by moving them, and checking the ground ( Bare metal, doesn't move when wiggled) that doesn't fix your problem, you will need to upgrade your cables to Triple Shielded ones... Good Luck!!

I had the engine/turbo sound myself, and i found it kinda cool, but got rid of it by grounding better my equipments. Pluss moving powercords and groundcords away from rca and speakercables.
