I have a 4ch amp, 2 speakers, and 1 sub (2ohm or 4ohm) details inside?
-
The amp specs are: 160W RMS x 4 @ 4 Ohms 230W RMS x 4 @ 2 Ohms 460W RMS x 2 [Bridged] @ 4 Ohms 1240W maximum power output The 2 speakers are 80W RMS and I want to hook each one to one channel. Then I want to bridge the other 2 channels for a 500W sub. Do I need to get a 4ohm or 2ohm 500W sub?
-
Answer:
you would need a 4ohm sub. if you were to wire it the way you described, using a 2ohm sub would make the amp throw itself into protection mode or damage it
