Answer:
ported boxes play louder often in the upper bass region unless tuned properly. sealed are more even throughout the bass spectrum but take a bit more power to operate. i would go sealed u can use smaller boxes, and with this an active crossover and eq, u can tun the system easily, audio control makes some quality, versatile and inexpensive units. a deck would be my first choice along with the big 3, the big 3 is inexpensive and easy power roadblock to overcome. i would do a 4 chan amp. next along with aftermarket speakers kicker amps are fine and u can find cheap mb quarts on ebay or other online stereo outlets. alternators, you may need to do much research for your car but 150 amps should be fine remember some alternators put out close to no amps at idle or at least way below the specs. I believe in second batteries especially for engine off listening just monitor what the voltage is doing and get to know how everything works together. i have many thousands in my system and bought most everything on lay away so i had much research on products, 2 15's is a lot so give the mids-n-tweets plenty of power to keep up. this is all about system design not just adding pieces get the best u can afford.

2000 Impala, They come with what? 125 amp alt. You want to run both your kicker amps? I know your amps can go down to 2 ohms, what about your speakers? Are they the 2-ohm DVC or the 4-ohm DVC versions? If you are asking these questions, do you know how to hook up your subwoofer to your amps to maximize the power of the amps? You can just hook them up and get sound but it'll probably be no where near what it can be. Anyway, I would start with the big 3 since that's the simplest and cheapest. Pickup either an eclipse or Alpine HU. Don't knwo if you want to install in this order right away or install components then wait a little and install the next set but 2ndly I would get the 2nd battery in there and get all the distribution blocks mounted. I'll also get a 4 channel amp and a set of decent components to go inside the doors, be sure to run your own speaker wires. Once all that's done, being you are going to run both of your amps, here's how I would wire up the subwoofers. Assuming they are 4-ohm DVC's, I would wire both the voice coils in each sub in a parallel configuration giving you a 2-ohm load which is what your amp is stable down to. This allows the amp to use it's full 1000watts as it's only 500watts at 4-ohms. This will go in a sealed enclosure, I don't favor ported box's too much boom. I like nice tight bass. If you have 2-ohm DVC subs, I'll wire the the voice coils in each sub in a series to make 4 ohms, then wire the two subs in parallel to get a 2-ohm load that one of your amps can drive. If you install both amps in this setup, you'll get the same results as if you are to use just one amp. It's late, not sure if I make any sense.

I have and answer to how many batteries. You need one battery to every 500 watts of power you are using. As far as your alternator, get the highest amp they sell which is about 105 or better. for the process to what to hook up, always start with your wires. starting from the battery back, but when you hook up the wire that has the 12 volt positive, make sure that you pull the fuse in your amp wire before running to the placement of your amp. good luck and have fun. don't get in a hurry and replace all interior as you work your way to the back of the car.

It sounds like cool project. First, you need to buy all of the materials. Do you want to use a dry cell battery or a Cap? http://cgi.ebay.com/3-5-FARAD-DIGITAL-CAPACITOR-COMPLETE-SET-KIT-COMBO-PACK_W0QQitemZ120356379827QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCar_Electronics_Installation?hash=item120356379827&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1234%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A3%7C294%3A50 This would be big enough for 2000watts. The big 3 is easy all you do is add a second wire to your existing wires.http://www.isyougeekedup.com/the-big-3-car-audio-wiring-upgrade/ Get a new high quality battery. At 2000watts you and using efficient amps you shouldn't have any problems if you get a good battery, a 3 farad Cap, 0gage wire, 4gage wire, Vented boxes are best to me. Get a wiring harness for your cd player run your rca's and rem wire while you have the stereo out. Hope this helps

first U need 0 gg Power cable if you r serious for + and - A 80 amp or 165 amp Alternator Hard core Fuse Holder with either 100amp, 150amp, 200amp fuses Decent RCA Cable A head unit of your choosing with RCA front RCA rear and a Single RCA mono out ( Check out Axis Audio Radios We use them in Comps) 6 gg cable for main Mem power for Head Unit Top Grade MDF Timber for making sub Boxes and speaker mounting points A Cappaciter for your full range Fill if you choose to have one T nuts and bolts to suit for bolting subs into box also a good box design to suit your subs 1 car audio battery will be fine for normal use ( Optima is a good brand ) but if you want to show of 2 or 3 would be even better All amps rms output should match the rms of the speaker they will be driving or at least over by 25 % Make sure you make an MDF parcel shelf for best quality sound and performance Sealed = accurate bass ported = exaggerated bass bandpass = exaggerated bass with a narrow band of frequencies (it's basically a sealed and a ported in one, also used in competition). The uncommon ones (more for competition use): T-line (Transmission Line) Solobaric Folded Horn Conical Box Is what produces deep base 2 8" subs here in Aus produced 140 db in a specially built box so size is complete preference only A box Can also change the Wattage of a speaker depending on type and size of the box and your amp should match the RMS that you end up with there r equations you can find on the net Bridging amp amp+ to sp1+ to sp2+ amp- to sp1 - to sp2- Will give you 2 ohm if your amp is 2 ohm stable or Recommended for best sound Quality amp+ to sp1+ sp1- to sp2+ sp2- to amp- Will give you 8 ohm and Peak at 4 ohm at max power Are your subs single or dual voice coil both will shake your car 10 s will give you Harder bass I have used 10s in Competition and beaten 15s it all comes down to box I have 2 x 8s Alltech Lansing in a band pass box pulls 136 db Most pioneer 12s and 15s have trouble breaking a true 135 db Personal pref go to www.autowreck.com.au member ship is free log in go to members rides check out parrots Orange Gemini PVan go to www.rlsnell.20m.com and have a look at the colt the 2 x 10 Extreme Selenium in the front of the box without the 4 x 12 Extreme Selenium going pull 140 db tried and tested in db drags australian comps. I have beaten cars with 2 x 15s with just the TENS Extreme Selenium in the front doors pull 140 db as well the whole system has pulled in latter shows 149.9 db = 4 x 12 & 2 x10 Extreme Selenium This System is one of the Best Sound Quality cars in the world all subs r fine once the amp is tuned properly unfortunately most people just turn everything up BIG NO NO if you want great bass NO Cap - Caps are for full range amps only not Subs it is a myth that if you put caps on your subs you get more bass you don't you get batter Quality bass and less bang and boom the cap sends an even flow of the power to your amp you loose 25 % off ( Tried and Tested ) put a 1 frd on your other speakers and it will help prolong the life of your speakers and amps this is not saying not to as I run Caps In My SQ car But not my SPL car
