How many watts is the sock amp in a 93 ford explorer?
-
i have a sony head unit with 17w rms 50w max but my explorer has a stock amp and i want to know the output of it i would think that the new head unit would boost the output but idk i want to know cause need to put new speakers in cause the stock jbl ones are starting to go out

Answer:
Most stock systems output about 10 watts or so. If you want more power, then you can go with the aftermarket head unit. Unless you are running large subwoofers, 50w should be plenty--you shouldn't have to boost it if you use the sony head. I would spend my money on the speakers first. The aftermarket unit will really only make things louder, not better sounding if using stock speakers.
