Are Infinity subs good?

Infinity Reference 611a and ohm load? Closed box vs Open box? one or 2 subs?

• I have an Infinity Reference 611a amplifier and i want to put 2 subs up to it. The specifications say that the amp runs at 456 watts RMS on 1 channel at 4 ohms, or 657 watts RMS on 1 channel at 2 ohms. There are 2 speaker wire outputs on the amp and both are wired parallel to each other internally (so its still a mono amp). If i want to put 2 subs on this amp, what ohm rating should i get on the subs so that everything matches up well. I was looking at some 12" JL W3's, but i dont know if i should get 2 ohm or the 4 ohm version. I currently have a ported box that has 2 12" openings. I was thinking about ditching the dual sub idea and getting just one JL w3 and put it in a closed box. I think that would make the system sound "better" because a ported box just makes everything so loud. Dont get me wrong, i do like loud sometimes, you know, to show off :) but if i get the single sub with a closed box, could i still turn it up and it still sound loud?? or should i keep the ported box and get 2 subs?? does a closed box even make the sound of the car more balanced? ... so many options....   be careful, those Infinity Ref amps get real hot. the w3 is a beautiful sub for a person that likes rich music. or get dual jl w0's or boston acoustics G series. but sealed is better in terms of box dimension. some subs are very unforgiving in terms of boxes. jl's are better in sealed in my opinion and I have only heard 1 w3 or w0 in a ported that sounded nice and it was a custom built box. run the amp at 4ohms to run it cooler and more efficiently.
