What size and type of speakers should I get for my Pontiac Grand Am?

If you are looking for premium sound get 4 10" try Kicker and get a 2 channel 1000w amp and bridge thee speakers 2 ways. @ 500 amps to each 2 10" speakers with about 350true amps you will be able to hear your car 5 blocks away. The reason I suggest 10" speakers in they hit every beat and 12" hit every other beat. 15" hit every 4th beat. 12" is OK if you only get 2 and get a 1 channel 1000w amp. Either way get a good Amp, Matts, earthquake, or kicker. Try to match your system.

Buy a set of speakers that match the output of the sterio, plus maybe 10 or 15 watts per speaker. This will balance the system and give you a premium sound. I personally would go with Jensen or Clarion speekers. If you want a little than stock sound, check with GM and see if you can get some pre-amps for the front set and rear set of speakers. This is the way they have the system set up in the Chevy Impalas and it sounds great.

you have 4x6's up front, and 6x9s in the back. your factory amp sucks, bypass it asap. you can fit 5.25 and 6.5's in the front, but you need a adaptor. also if the speaker magnet is too big, the adaptor wont work, cause the speaker wont mount correctly and be flush. i fiberglassed my door panels and made them look a lot better then stock. and the sound a hell of a lot better then the stock set up. so its really up to you, the sky is the limit. if your just a normal guy and dont need your music to be perfect, then just replace your 4x6's and 6x9s, and amp them. it will sound a LOT better then stock. here are some brands i highly recomend. ok, your gunna have tonsa fun tith this one. you need to rewire everything, but like the other guy said you have 6x9's in the back and 4x6's up front, which you can fit some 5 1/4's in there, and not sure about 6 1/2's yet. but i have an 02 gagt and the way monsoon has everything hooked up is screwed up. but get a little amp doing 50w rms per channel. then wire it to your 6x9's and if you get a 4 channel then wire it up to your front speakers too. i just got a little walmart $50 amp b/c that was the smallest amp i could find, and it sounds good for the price. but its only 2 channel. but good luck, and dont give yourself that much of a headache. just to let you know, you are going to have to lower the back seats, and carefully remove the rear panel which was a p.i.t.a.! then i just flipped the rear deck carpet over and cut the platic pegs holding on the speaker covers so its open, and then i used my speakers grilles. good luck! p.s. dont cut the harnesses. just unclip them from the speaker. o, and when u remove the speakers, there will be little harnesses (not wire, but plastic) around the speakers with clips. remove those and put them on your new speakers, therefor your not going to have to drill, but check out the site im puttin in my sources. it will give u pics as well
