What's the best amp?

Whats the best mono amp i can get for $200-250?

  • I have 2 SVC 2 ohm kicker cvt 10 in shallows 400w rms each and I'm looking for: 1. The best brand amp I can get to wire at 4 ohms? and 2, the best brand amp I can get to wire at 1 ohm? I'm concerned with overheating and going into protection mode. And in your opinion what should I go with 1 ohm or 4 ohms?

I saw in your last question that you wan't from ebay. Here are some good budget amps. You will need a 1 ohm stable 600-1000 rms monoblock for your 2 subs. Wire them in parallel. Once you add tax and shipping these amps will be in the price range. They should run those subs fine. These amps do pretty close to rated power http://cgi.ebay.ca/New-HIFONICS-HFi-1000D-1000W-Mono-Class-D-Amp-HFi1000D-/290516884372?pt=Car_Amplifiers&hash=item43a427db94 http://cgi.ebay.ca/SOUNDSTREAM-PCX700D-MONO-D-700W-Car-Power-Amplifier-Amp-/390273341380?pt=Car_Amplifiers&hash=item5ade1a97c4 . If you were to run those subs @ 4 ohms you would need a 2 channel amp and run it in bridged mode. If you were to run it @ 1 ohm you will need a 1 ohm stable monoblock like in the link provided. The difference is: 2 channel amps are class AB and Monoblock amps are class D. Class D is far more effiecient than a class A and will power your subs with less strain on the charging system. That's why you should run @ 1 ohm and not 4 ohms. The ohms are only there to match subs to amps. Edit: groundshaker......why can't you wire them to 1 ohm? lol. They are single 2 ohm coils. Wire them in parallel and it makes 1 ohm.

With a pair of DVC 2 ohm subs, here are your possible final impedances: http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/woofer_wizard.asp?submitted=true&woofer_qty=2&woofer_imp=3 Wiring Option #2 is your best wiring solution. You'll have more choices, better power output, and generally lower prices in amps that are stable at 2 ohms. This Hifonics Brutus BRZ1200.1D outputs 900 watts RMS into 2 ohms and at $210 is a good value: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_23548_Hifonics-Brutus-BRZ1200.1D.html The rated power of this Rockford-Fosgate Punch P6001bd is less, but even at $238, it's probably a little better value than the Hifonics: http://www.dealercostcaraudio.com/PunchP6001bd.aspx

Dude I wonder why you blown amplifier, you hooked up wire wrong, the 2 Ohm woofers can't wire down to 1 Ohm load, lol. if you have 2 SVC 2 ohm load subwoofers you need to look at a 2 ohm load or 4 ohm load amplifier, unless you have good luck get a 0.5 ohm load amplifier, which is very hard to find one now. get this amplifier http://www.amazon.com/Kenwood-KAC-9104D-1800-Watt-Capability-Amplifier/dp/B0014E2PD6/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1294124633&sr=1-2 hell yea, running it at 2 ohm load.
