Best setup for my car sub?

Car Speakers/Sub, what amp setup is best?

  • If cost is not an option...Would hooking up 4 speakers (6.5" and 6"X9") and a sub (2X10") to a 5 or 6 channel amp be better or worse than hooking it up the speakers with a 4-channel and the sub with a mono amp?

  • Answer:

Two amps is better- The 5 ch amps are ok, but will not produce loud bass - If money is not a problem , the pro installers will always use two amps

My favorite amplifier ever, is the Memphis Belle.. 75X4 & 1100X1 5 channel amplifier. The only issue I could ever see, is that if you have an issue with a channel, or amp dies.. All is lost. With multiple amplifiers, you can always toss a replacement in while getting repairs/new amp/warrenty swap ( shipping time etc..) I have run multiple speakers, with single amps, while waiting for fixes, and have like it as much as before the multiple amps ( 2 6 1/2's and 4 - 10"subwoofers off of a 4 channel amp / 6 10's, 2 6 1/2's and 2 5 1/4 off of a 6 channel amp) Hope that helps!!

the more channels in a amplifier the better the chance your going to blow one and then the amp is junk.your best off going with a 4 channel amplifier for speakers with a class d or mono amplifier running your sub woofers and you will get more power in the right places.its all about the RMS rating, learn what its all about.its the continuous power an amplifier can make per channel or if its a class d amplifier for sub woofers it will give you a total RMS rating.and speaker or sub woofers have an RMS rating for how much power they can handle.say you have 2 subs making 400 rms each, you add them together and find a class d amplifier that is making 800 RMS ,so a match is what your looking for.with speakers the amp tells you how much RMS it puts out per channel and a speaker will tell you how much RMS they can handle and again your looking for a match or close to one as possible same gos for subs if you can't find a match get as close to one as possible.hope this helps.

polk audio sounds amazing if cost is not a problem. also use two amps its better then using a multi channel amp.
