How should I connect my wires to my amp?

(automotive) Is it possible to connect an amp to a stereo if there are no rc wires?

  • ...or do i need to buy a new stereo? The one I purchased is new, but for some reason theres no *rc wires*( is what the man said)

    Many amps have high level inputs other than RCA (Low level) inputs. You use those to connect your head unit, using the speaker wires, directly in to the amps. Consult your amp’s manual for details, look for something like “High level input”. But you will not have as good sound quality as with RCAs, and there might be some interference if the wires are too long, and run around other electric wires and electronics.

that's RCA out from the head unit. Yes, you can use a line level converter. It converts speaker level output to line level output. The only thing is, if not done correctly, you can get lots of extra noise in your system.

Unfortunately you need those wires to do it properly. In the past I have taken RCA cables and cut one end and then connect the speaker outputs to the cut end. it works but you have to be sure that you know what you are doing. But the sound quality is better when you have the rca outputs on the back of the stereo.

Yes, you need a hi/low converter. Which sells for around $20 dollars. The wiring instructions come with converter. Also get RCA cable you will need it.

DO NOT listen to Juan. That's a good way to blow out the inputs on an amp. A LOC (Line-Out Converter) found at Wal-Mart is what you need. It taps into the rear speaker wires and converts the high-level signal to a low-level signal suitable for the RCA cable.
