How do I wire up two separate amps in my car?

How do i wire dual amps up?

  • I have two subwoofers that have 600rms each. I want to put an amplifier to each one. The amplifier i want on each one is the Power Acoustik TS980-2, so that each sub will get the 560 rms that this amp puts out. But i am not sure how to wire two amps into my car. Is there a site or diagram i can look at to help me. Or can someone just tell me how to do it.

  • Answer:

Easiest (best) way is to run a power wire (double the size required for the two amps) to the location of the amps. Use a distrobution block and run the required size wire to each amp from there. You will need a fuse twice the size recommended no more than 18" from the battery and a properly sized fuse for each amp just after the distrobution block. Make each ground as short as possible (less than 18") and to the same point if possible. There is a power wire chart 2/3 the way down on this site (use the third one): http://spkrbox1.spaces.live.com

if you have big enough gauge wires, you should be able to wire it right off the other one, with the exception of having a splitter for the rca cables.

from the battery u'll still need to pull out two cables, or bring a splitter from the main cable coming from your battery, and its similar from your audio deck, you need to pull a cable from your deck, and then a splitter to split the channels. that should work... it will not affect the sound, unless your battery is not powerful enough, i would recommend your battery to be atleast an N60 or N70
