Advice on buying subs and an amp?

What amp would be best for my subs?

  • im buying two kenwood kfc-w3010ps subs with a sealed box. each sub allows for 400watts rms and 1200 peak. they have single voice coils and i was planning on wiring them parallel, so im thinking that would be 2400 peak and 800rms @ 2 ohms, correct me if im wrong. i was looking for an amp under 250 that would put the most power into the subs without damaging them, i want these babies to pound and turn heads, im looking for any sugesstions on wiring, if i should use sealed or ported box and which amp would be the best and any more tips or advice with this. thanks for any help very much appreciated!

  • Answer:

The best box you can use to make heads turn is to use a ported box for one, and probably use a good name brand amp like quantum, crunch, sony, or kenwood, to power these subs. Im not quite sure on pricing but the best you can buy for your buck is a quantum or crunch. As for wiring the system, I'm using the "bridging" method compared to individual wiring because ive heard a huge difffernce in my system when Im running 2 12s with a 600 watt amp. Hope this helps at least a little bit.
