Car Audio Upgrade Question?

  • I have a ' 99 Grand Prix GT and I want to upgrade my door speakers. If I do will I have to upgrade anything else, radio? (already have an aftermarket radio but it's not the greatest), car battery ? My car also has 2 bigger speakers in the back under my back window do i need to upgrade those too? If you have any questions let me know and i'll answer them for you, thanks

You don't have too replace anything when installing new speakers. If you want to get the most out of those speakers it'll be better with an amplifier but then you'll just need an amp install kit which run about $20-30 these days. If you're not going to use an amp, just replace the speakers and you're good to go. I would replace both front and back speakers to get better sound througout the car.
