How do you get a car stereo code?

How do I get the unlock code for my car stereo? It's a 92 Honda Accord.?

  • One of the battery cables was taken off so now the stereo display has the CODE on it. I bought the car used so I don't have the owners manual. Any help would be great. Thanks, Melinda

    You're not going to like this answer, but you've gotta get the code. If it's not in your owners manual and the original owner didn't give you one, you'll have to go to the dealer and have them pop off your dashboard and they will get you the code. It will cost you between $50-$75. One tip for you - I had this happen to me on my 99 Civic and it turns out that my dealer didn't give me the number. I called several Honda dealers around my area and told the last one that he was in competition with other dealers in the area and that I was severely disappointed with the service I was receiving. I told him that I would tell all of my friends and family, many Honda drivers, that they should NOT purchase another Honda because of this. Those magic "unhappy" words got the process done for free. I would recommend that if they are unwilling to help you! Good luck!

there is a serial # u need to get off the back of the sterio set. and yep that means u have to pull it out of the dash. take the # to ur local honda dealership along with proof of ownership like a bill of sale or title. they will look it up in there computer. the dealership may be able to take it out for u. i just had my friend do it for me. there is no other way to get the code unless u have the original security card that comes with the car when it was originally purchased.

Ohhh, that's terrible. That happened to me in my old car... a 97 oldsmobile cutlass supreme. I went to a dealership, and they reset it for me for a small fee of 20 dollars.
