What brand amp should i use? Should i use mono block or 2 channel?
-
I have two 400 watt rms Each (800 watts Peak Each) 12" Kicker CVT's, the speakers that come out in 2007 that are only 4 inches thick, I was wander what is the best amp i can get and how many watts should the amp be? And also should i get a mono block and just wire the two speaker as one, or should i just get a 2 channel amp.

Answer:
if the subs have an overall impedence of 2 ohms than you will need a monoblock amp. if your subs have an overall impedence of 4 ohms get a stereo amp and bridge the channels. that will give you the most power out of each. when buying an amp get one with an rms power rating that matches or is close to what your speakers you dont really want to go more than 100 watts more or less more is better

for amp wise best to get a mono block amp. somethinking like a kicker 06zx1000.1, if your subs are dual 4ohms you can wire them to 2ohms which will equal 1000watts rms at 2ohms from that amp. its better to overpower subs rather than underpower them. So u wont have to crank it up to get loud causing distortion which causes speakers to blow.

I've always cranked up my bass cabinets ( 2 15's, 2 6by9's, 2 tweeters, an EQ, and my receiver) all on a Pioneer amp and I still love my Pioneer. I have used Kenwood in the past but it was too small for this system so not sure about it's endurance. Get some expensive pro StreetWires. It will distribute the power more evenly and be less likely to tear up your battery. You can run mono with just what your pullin' but not if you add more to it.

go with mono class d but make sure it puts out the right power at whatever ohm ur subs are set up at

if they are svc 4ohm you can wire to a 2ohm load if dual 4 ohm you can wire to a 4 ohm load or a 1 ohm load here is a web site that will show you how to wire the subs to the correct ohms load http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/woofer_wizard.asp the subs are rater 400rms 800 peak each = 800 rms 1600 peak i would look for a amp that will put out about 1000-1600 watts max and a mono block would be the best way to go. find what ohms load you want to run and look for a amp using that info and you will find what you are needing and after you have it all installed remember to set the rite gain settings on the amp or you will blow the subs. link to help http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=164826 good luck
