• Alright so i noticed theres really cheap subwoofers that look small and dont have a box...the picture just shows the circular speaker ...but then i notice there are BOX subwoofers such as JL and go up to 1500 bucks. I dont understand the difference.....Are the sundown just speakers and u can add a box to the trunk or something? Help. I want a nice subwoofer and was looking into JL box subwoofer to stick in trunk..but then people are telling me to get sundown but none of the models are a box...Please explain someone and give me advice as well lol

  I have used JL subs for years, They are built to last, and take a pounding. Each type of Sub woofer needs to be mounted in a box, and works best when the box is sized correctly. JL sub boxes are constructed so the size of the box, or its volume of air inside the box is ideal for the best performance of the speaker. It will have less distortion and be less likely to blow. Whichever sub you buy, will come with a info sheet telling you the volume of the box you will need. Most will have info on both sealed box construction, (a box with no openings) and ported box construction. Ported boxed normally are smaller but will need the port to be of the correct size and correct length. If you get the size wrong, it will not sound as good, or hit as low as one that is correct. Spend the extra money and get the best sub you can afford. You will hear and feel the difference.
