What exactly will I need to run two 12" subs through my car?

I am buying 2 12" kicker solo classic subs for my car and i need and amp to run them, what is a good choice?

  • 2 Ohm Impedance RMS Power 1200 Watts Peak Power 2400 Watts Dimensions Width 32-5/16" Height 15" Bottom Depth 11-1/8" Top Depth 8" That is what i am getting, i want an amp that isnt too expensive but can still operate well and is high quality, the car is a 2003 vw golf gti, with a stock receiver, i would also be buying one of those, so what is a good one for that also?

  • Answer:

since it's pre-wired for 2 you're looking for a mono amp thats in the 1000-1200w rms range at 2 ohms. The kicker ix, zx, dx 1000.1's would work. kenwood excelon 1200m You don't "need" an aftermarket HU. If you stick with the stock you'll need a line output converter (LOC) which will connect to your existing speaker wires to provide rca inputs for the amp. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_10296_HItron-HL250-Hi-Lo-Adapter.html
