I need an amp for my subwoofers?

  • i have two kenwood kfc-w3011, now i know what type of amp i need for these just having a hard time finding one, please could someone help me get an amp that can move both subwoofers, or an amp for one so i could purchase one, these subwoofers are 4 ohm single coils, please good quality brands, any help will be apreciated

    The speaker IS the ohm load. When determining what a system can handle as far as ohms, it's the amp that is required to handle the load, not the speakers. Your subwoofers are each 4-ohms, but when you wire them together the result is a 2-ohm load. Your best bet is an amplifier that's rated for around twice the subwoofer's RMS power rating into a 2-ohm load. That usually means a mono amp.

no a 2-ohm load will not hurt your speakers it is just making more of your amp. so this is a good thing no need to worry about the 2-ohm load.

not sure if you want to push the full rms or close to it. the kenwood here would give you 850 at the 2ohm load you would have. 50 watts over rms but 25 extra watts wont hurt. and kenwood/kenwood would be a good match up. http://sonicelectronix.com/item_5901_Kenwood+KAC-9102D.html heres 1 thats 800rms @2ohm from mtx http://sonicelectronix.com/item_5645_MTX+Audio+TA7801+Thunder+7801.html exactly like the other person said. 2 4ohm subs will wire @2 or 8 ohm depending how you wire it(you want 2ohm because you would need a huge amp to get 800rms @8ohm). 2 dvc 4ohm subs would wire @ 1or 4ohm. check it out here http://rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/woofer_wizard.asp
