It really depends on how much you are planning to spend. For around $600 you should be able to get a pretty nice sound system inculding subs, amp, and a receiver. I would start with 2 12" subs. Rockford fosgate, kicker, pioneer, alpine, and kenwood are all reliable, but mainly just stay away from sony, and anything that is too cheap. If you want to be able to hear the words, good front speakers are a must. I recently purchased kicker subs and and an amp from an ebay store that is called Audiosavings and I am super impressed. They had amazing prices and selection. hope this helps

I would recommend 2 12's and an amplifier with a remote volume knob.

That really depends on how much your trying to spend. Most people go with two 12's but if you buy the right 10" (ONE) with the right hookup, it will hit just as hard. He a website where I buy my car audio from http://etronics.com/ Cheapest around and fast shipping.
