What door speakers should I get?

How can i get my door speakers to stop rattling?

  • okay, i have a 2000 jaguar s-type. so these arent crappy speakers. whenever i turn the music up (primarily a song with a lot of bass) the speaker starts to rattle, like a bolt is loose or something. the speakers are only 6 years old. car speakers should be able to hold for longer thasn that right? can i crack them open and fix it myself?

    Don't assume your 6 year old Jaguar speakers aren't crappy. If they are factory installed, then they aren't very good quality to begin with. They are easy to replace. On a difficulty scale of 1-10, I'd rate it about a 4.

just because its a jag dosent mean you have high end speakers especially if theyre factory they are still crap speakers. Anyway it sounds like theyre blown my friends speakers did that and sure enough when he pulled them out they were not moving smoothly. You should just get some really nice speakers like dynaudio or MB Quart to replace them they will compliment your luxury car right and add a subwoofer (JL Audio) and put crossovers on the mids and highs to prevent the bass from damaging your new speakers.

you can remove the door panel and see if it has come loose on it,i have seen a few of them come loose once in a while,,just be care full when removing the door panel,,there are a lot of hidden screws on it,,take your time and you,ll be ok doing it,,you might have a busted speaker when you get to it,,good luck with it,,maybe this will help.

I would find some boards for Jag owners and ask them. I have a 99 Range Rover, which always has something going wrong. I found a board that has guys who can answer anything and everything. That would be my suggestion for this problem - and for those yet to come. (I'm not down on Jags - everything has stuff go wrong with it and if you can find a good board or 2, it will save you a ton of money).

If you know for a fact the speakers are good, then remove the panel and speaker, install some dynomate, tighten the screws and resemble. I would buy some after market speakers if I was you. I use MTX in my car. Eclipse good too.
