What amp do I need to push my 2 12's?

I'm getting two 15' and i've been told i need a amp to push them? can i use them with out an amp?

  • && would i have good bass with out the amps? oh, and if i do need an amp can i use my guitar amp? PLEASEE HELPP!

  • Answer:

If you don't have the budget for an amp, don't bother with subs. If you MUST have a sub, get a small one you can afford, with enough left over for an amp to run it. A good 10 in a good box with adequate power can produce quite a bit of volume and sound good doing it. Some bargain basement 15's in a crap box and a pos amp will take up a ton of space, not be terribly loud, and generally sound like a$$. There's really no point in a pair of 15's if you're not going to power them adequately. That would be like having a big lifted 4x4 with a lawnmower engine. Your guitar amp is 120v AC powered, it's not going to work in a car which is 12v DC.

i hope your talking about 15s for you car and if you are yes you will need a amp for sure and a good one at that not one from walmart and if you just try to hook it up to your deck it won't do anything aspecialy with 2 they are probably needing about 800-1000 watts each so i would go with a JL 1000 watt amp or go with a kicker 500 that would push them enough you looking to spend right around 400-1000$ for a good amp to push them hope this helps
