Car audio: amp fuse question?
-
the fuses on my car amplifier has 4 fuses that are 25 amps each which is a total of 100 amps. and i think the fuse from the battery to the amp is probably like 80 amps. i am also getting a 4 channel amp which has 3 fuses that are 25 amps each, 75 amps total. once i get the amp and installed.. should i upgrade the fuse from the battery to the amp to 175 amp or around there? 100 amps+75amp=175amps

Answer:
1. if you upgrade the main battery fuse to @ 175+ amps.. I hope your wire / cable can handle it! 2. If you upgrade to that amp fuse.. I hope you buy the matching "amp wiring kit" that can handle it. 3. Is your alternator and electrical system ready for a 175 amp draw? Does this help any?
