What's the difference of Frequency Response?

Difference is sub stats? (frequency response)?

  • Im going to get a couple subs (4) Im debating on different types circle compared to squared http://www.sonicelectronix.com/compare_items.php?product_ids=21875,31861&hide_similar_features=yes&hide_highlights=yes Here are the 2 im lookin at...Now I know bass might be a little different but what im lookin to know is frequency response in a sub and whats the difference as u can see one says 25-500 hz and other says n/a what difference would it make? or no difference? and if any of you know from experience what difference would i get from these two subs overall? (most likly will be on a brutus 1700 or 2100 tuned to match each set) thanks

  • Answer:

The L3's use the same motor structure as the CVR, meaning the subs are identical other than the shape of the cone. That leads me to believe you'll have a bit more SPL with the L3, but probably more potential for sound quality from the CVR. The freq response spec isn't of much value. For one, subs are rarely used over about 100hz so claiming a high frequency range of 500hz isn't realistic anyway. Plus the enclosure the sub is in will have a much larger effect on frequency response than what's published in the spec list. The only frequency spec that matters in enclosure design is the resonant frequency (Fs) and the L3 is a few hz lower than the CVR.
