Car speakers stopped working on drivers side! any ideas?

Help! The speakers on the right side of my car stop working after a few minutes?

  • But only when I'm using the cd player...they work fine with fm and am radio. The speakers work for a few minutes then go out...I switch it to fm radio and then back to the cd player and the right speakrs work again for a few minutes only to go out again. Any ideas as to why its doing this? Even better, how do i fix this!?

  • Answer:

Could be that the the CD player portion is broken. the laser reader may get out of alignment, or something like that. Or it could be a heat issue - when the CD player runs the heat generated is causing a connection somewhere to open up. Could also be due to vibration from the cd player, same as with heat, there's possibly a place where circuit is being broken. No matter which it is though, car stereos, unless under warranty, are not worth fixing. Get a new one.
