Sound system for my car?!?
-
Im about to buy a 96 saturn sl1. I want to get a sound system in my car. Are all sterio decks compatible with pretty much every car? There is some nice touch screen decks i want to buy and am not sure how compatibility works. I dont need people to hear me a mile away but i want to bump it pretty loud pretty much all the time. Should i get one 12" sub? A 10"? How big of a difference does that make? Two subs versus one? What brands are generally the best quality? What is exactly what i need? I know i will need cables, the sub woofers, the amp, deck, box for subs. Am i missing anything? Do i need to purchase speakers for the side of my car door area? My friend just got a sound system but its hard to hear words because hes not finished with it he said he still needs speakers in the door i belive? what exactly is that called? how much is that going to cost? For amp do i need 1000 watt? If i go cheaper route with this stuff do i run the risk of blowing my speakers Lastly is it all pretty easy to install if i get help or should i have best buy or some place install it for me? Sorry for all the noob questions im just not sure! thanks in advance.

Answer:
Walmart if you want to do it yourself has wiring harness and dash mounts. If it's a double din stereo you can get a double din aftermarket stereo or a single din with a pocketed dash mount to fill the hole. Each ones are for different models. You can't really put a double din in a single din dash unless there's a pocket below it cause you can't remove the heat control buttons or anything like that. Plus make sure the stereo has RCA outputs for the subs. Door speakers just depend on your car and the watt stereo you get most stock speakers on newer model vehicles are ok. Amp and subs however are a different subject. A good bump would probably be about 1200 watts. The next few cars over from you could hear it but it won't run you out of the car. Then the subs just have to match the wattage. You can get one 10" that could handle the full 1200 or two 10's or 12's or even 15's. Just depends on the size of your trunk and how loud you want it. A box for two 15's is bigger than two 10's its whatever you want. Some say brand matters but I say just don't over power the subs and your in good shape

almost all decks are compatible, but the thing is, you have to buy the adapter for that to fit into your car if it isn't a direct fit, I would advise going in to best buy, and one of their" proffesionals" should be able to guide you through this process
Rev in addition to subs nonetheless is a several matter. A good bundle may possibly end up being with regards to 1200 watts. Another very few vehicles more than from you can notice it nonetheless it won't run you right out the car or truck. Then that subs please have to check that wattage. You can find one particular 10" that could manage full 1200 or maybe not one but two 10's or maybe 12's or even 15's. Only depends upon the type of one's trunk in addition to just how noisy you desire it. Any container for just two 15's is actually much larger compared to not one but two 10's it's whatever you desire. Several state company matters nonetheless Post state only never more than power that subs plus your within good design.

The first consideration is the age of the car. It would be foolish to spend more on the sound system than the car is worth. The sound system will not add much if anything to the value of the car. Next is the issue of a balanced system. A complete packaged system should be well balanced and should produce clear sound over the audible range. If you start to try and assemble a system on your own you'll wind up like your friend with an unbalanced system and poor sound quality. Finally is the issue of whether you should install the system yourself or have it installed by a professional. The professional will have all the hardware and tools on hand so the system will be in and working very quickly. If it is installed by the same people you buy it from there may be a discount on the installation. If you set out to do it yourself, it will turn into an endless task that will not likely ever get finished and each tiny part will need to be purchased retail which would drive the cost up.
you might need a harness for the deck, those can be pricey it's probably a good idea to get new speakers for the doors considering the age. chances are pretty low that they're good ones anyway if you have a friend or family member that knows how to connect the wires and stuff, then don't bother going anywhere to get it installed. it will save A LOT of money. many electronics places charge a rate PER set of speakers and for the deck separately. i got an estimate from advance or something and they said $40 per speakers, $50 for the deck. for that price, i could just upgrade my speakers. it's extremely easy to take apart the doors and the deck, just get a guide online, and have someone help you if you're unsure. it can be easy to pick pieces off or scratch your doors when trying to take them apart.
