Woody. i have another question. sound system.?
-
so the one that best buy told me was a kenwood. and it says it is 900-1300 watts rms and 1 ohm stable. if i could potentially get more watts rms out of the kenwood, why would i want the alpine. is it 1000 watts rms? and why is it so much better? im no knocking you at all. i am really looking into these two. but please help me. i cant compare between these two amps, i dont really understand alot of the lingo. and i am scard that if i get the alpine, the kenwood would be better. what kind of qualifications do you have. im just wondering. because why wouldnt best buy tell me to get that amp? well just anymore information from you would be great. you seem very wise and intelligent. and i really appreciate your help. and how does your ound system sound. like, wil i be amazed at no matter what i do. and how big of a difference will i hear between the two amps???? thanks man.

Answer:
Hi, I have been involved with car audio installation and competitions for about ten years now. The reason you want the alpine amp is the alpine amp produces a constant 1000 watts. (RMS). at 2 ohms which is much cleaner and will run much cooler than 1300 watts at 1 ohm. the lower you run your impedance the worse the quality of the power gets, the reason for this is the amp will have to work harder to produce the power, which causes more heat. Also the shop I get all my equipment at sends in more kenwood amps for repairs than any other brand they carry. Also I would not let best buy touch your car, I have seen some pretty hack jobs come out of there. You should look into bring your stuff to a shop that specializes in car audio. If you have any other questions you are welcome to email me at [email protected] Another thing, best buy workers don't know squat, they only pay attention to one thing on an amp and it power rating and pay on attention to impedance, which is just as important as power rating.

LOL The amp doesn't "work" harder at 1 ohm. The resistance is lower so more current flows through the amp. The Power supply heats up and becomes less efficient. Basically more of the power is turned into heat as the efficiency drops. Amps that are really stable at 1 ohm will not overheat at 1 ohm. An amp that overheats at 1 ohm is not really stable at 1 ohm, regardless of what the manufacturer says. The key to a stable amp is a good power supply.
